In 1961 Aikido was introduced in Thailand by Nobuyoshi Tamura Shihan, an Aikido teacher of the Asia University, Tokyo. He sent graduated students holding black belt rank to teach aikido at the College of Physical Education (The National Stadium).

Throughout the years we consistently obtained technical support from the Aikido World Headquarters, Tokyo.

In 1970 This year marks the Founding of Renbukan, patronized by Kawasaki Thailand, on the 4th floor building opposite the general post office, Bangrak, Bangkok.

And in November 26th, 1998 Relocating the Aikido Association of Thailand on 2nd floor, 1521/3 Sukhumvit Rd., (between Soi 67 and 69) North Phrakanong, Klong Toey, Bangkok and setting up Renbukan dojo as the practicing center for all membership till the present day.

Aikido Association Thailand Lead by Motohiro Fukakusa Shihan (8th Dan Aikikai) who came to teach Aikido

in the very first Aikido Senseis group since 1964.

​

Fukakusa Shihan is also appointed by the Aikido World Headquarters to be a caretaker controlling teaching techniques throughout Southeast Asia.

 

As a result, Renbukan Dojo became Southeast Asia's Aikido Headquarters.

ในปี ค.ศ. 1961 ศิลปะป้องกันตัวไอคิโด ได้ถูกนำมาสาธิตในประเทศไทยโดย อ.โนบุโยชิ ทามูระ ซึ่งเป็นอาจารย์

ผู้สอนไอคิโดประจำมหาวิทยาลัยเอเชีย เมืองโตเกียว ประเทศญี่ปุ่น หลังจากนั้นได้ส่งนักไอคิโดในระดับสายดำเข้ามาเพื่อสอนไอคิโดที่วิทยาลัยพละศึกษา โดยได้รับการสนับสนุนจากสำนักงานใหญ่ไอคิโดแห่งโลก กรุงโตเกียว ประเทศญี่ปุ่น (ฮอมบูโดโจ)

ต่อมาในปี ค.ศ. 1970 ก็ได้มีการก่อตั้งโดโจขึ้นด้วยการสนับสนุนจาก บ.คาวาซากิ ประเทศไทย ณ บริเวณใกล้ๆกับไปรษณีย์กลางกรุงเทพฯ

และในวันที่ 26 พฤศจิกายน 1998 ได้ทำการย้ายสมาคมไอคิโดประเทศไทยมาที่ ชั้น 2 อาคารไทซิน (ปัจจุบัน) และก่อตั้งเรนบูคังโดโจ เพื่อให้เป็นศูนย์กลางสมาชิก และโรงฝึกศิลปะป้องกันตัวไอคิโดจนถึงปัจจุบัน

นายกสมาคมไอคิโดประเทศไทย คนปัจจุบันคือ อ.โมโตฮิโร ฟูคาคูซา (สายดำชั้นที่ 8) ซึ่งเดินทางเข้ามาสอนไอคิโดในประเทศไทยตั้งแต่ปี ค.ศ. 1964

และ อ.ฟูคาคูซา ยังได้รับมอบหมายจากสำนักงานใหญ่ไอคิโดแห่งโลกให้ดำรงตำแหน่งผู้ควบคุมเทคนิคและการสอนในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้
